Your answers and this browser

This notice describes the current beta, not a promise about your browser or hosting provider. No CardTutor account or bank connection is required. Never enter account numbers, passwords, Social Security numbers or other identifying information in the quiz.

What the app saves

Your answers, selected card names, spending estimates and result refinements are used to calculate comparisons in your browser. The app saves quiz progress and results in session storage for this site and browser tab. This version has no answer-storage service, bank-linking or session-recording integration.

For sessions with a saved timestamp, the app stops restoring them after 24 hours without a save. Older quiz formats may not include a timestamp. Expiry is checked when the app reads or saves data; it is not a guarantee that browser data is erased at exactly 24 hours. Duplicated or restored tabs may keep separate copies. Results do not automatically synchronize across tabs or devices.

Page-view measurement

When enabled on cardtutor.app, Vercel Web Analytics counts visits to the home, about, privacy, quiz and results pages. We send only the page path, without query strings or result IDs—not your answers, selected cards, spending, calculated values or form interactions. A results-page view does not mean a comparison finished successfully.

Vercel processes request information to estimate visitors and report devices, browsers and approximate geography. A referring website’s origin may be included; we suppress measurement when a referrer could contain a path or other private detail. We do not assign user IDs or enable analytics cookies or session replay. Vercel uses a short-lived visitor hash that can span browser tabs and quiz sessions; its daily reset is not a promise to erase analytics reports after 24 hours. This does not make hosting or analytics requests anonymous.

Measurement is skipped when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Blocking analytics does not prevent using the app. Learn more about Vercel’s analytics data handling.

What a page request reveals

Loading the site still sends page and asset requests to its host. These requests can include your IP address, browser information and the requested URL. This notice does not establish the host’s logging or retention settings. Normal result links contain a local lookup ID, not your quiz answers. That ID is not a secure share link or an access credential, and copying it does not transfer your saved result.

Do not put personal answers in URLs. Even a URL the app subsequently cleans can already have reached the host. Opening an issuer source takes you to that provider’s site and its own privacy practices.

Starting over and clearing data

“Start quiz” starts over: it resets quiz progress and attempts to remove this tab’s saved CardTutor results. It does not clear other tabs, browser history or hosting logs. Browser storage restrictions can prevent removal. Use your browser’s site-data controls if you need to remove stored data, and check any other open or restored tabs separately.

Questions or feedback

For questions or feedback, email Kevin at hello@cardtutor.app. Describe the issue using approximate or fictional inputs—not account details or unredacted screenshots.

Sending feedback is optional. Your email address and message are handled through our email provider, Porkbun, separately from the quiz’s tab-local storage. They are not cleared by restarting the quiz or by its 24-hour session expiry. This beta notice has not completed independent privacy review.
